It’s my turn!

Yep, you guessed it.. I was finally the one to wear the white dress and have photographers follow ME around as I joined with my new husband in marriage!  The day was absolutely unforgettable (they always say you won’t remember 90% of it, but Nyk and I disagree) – there were so many ‘you really had to be there moments’ but I’ll try to show you in a few of the photos how it all went along 🙂

Let me also jump in to say that the lovely photographer, Rachel, of Rachel Williamson Photography did a splendid job of head photographer (she and I have a similar style and are usually working together on wedding days)!  She was assisted by the ever-so-creative, Justin Heap.  It’s such a blessing having such talented friends in the photography world!

We begin with a few prep shots.. first of our beautiful rings, then the hair flower I made for my bridesmaids, a crazy dress donning collage, followed by a sweet moment of my dad and me.

So, as many of you may know, I enjoy traveling.  I don’t care much where I go because I always have a splendid time learning new things and living grand adventures.  This past July, my family and I took a vacation all over!  Needless to say, we learned how to entertain ourselves in the many hours of car riding 🙂

We left Nashville and headed out to Hershey, PA.  Hello, CHOCOLATE WORLD!  We had fun learning the history of chocolate as well as visiting the amusement park!  We then journeyed over the border to Toronto, Canada and ended up finding an Indian festival going on – so, of course, we had to attend.  The colors and people were beautiful and the food was ah-ma- zing!  We also got to walk around the city and the beach.  Our path then took us to Amherst, OH (a small town near Cleveland) to visit with our wonderful family friends (as well as go to one of the top roller coaster parks in the world – Cedar Point!).  Much fun was had by all.  Our last trek was to Chicago, IL, one of my ALL TIME favorite cities!  Of course, I love all the shopping and photo possibilities, but I mostly enjoy walking on the bustling streets.

The photos I’m sharing with you today are from the Canadian part of the trip.  Yes, we were able to go to Niagra Falls, but I wasn’t prepared to take my lovely camera toward all that water!  So enjoy some of the Toronto photos – hopefully it’ll give you a taste of what the city is like!

You made it – Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog, glad you could make it!  Cali Ashton Photography is starting off pretty snazzy if you ask me.  My friend Josh was an awesome help with creating my design – check out his stuff here.

As you may know, I’ve shot a lot of portraits in the past; head shots, seniors, weddings, etc… which I’m still doing! I just happen to be adding a nice little flair of advertising and commercial work.  My schooling at Nashville State has fully prepared me to take on this new adventure.  I’ve found a new love for this type of photography and am excited to add it to my repertoire.

On another exciting note.. my website is almost up and running! Definitely within the month… so keep an eye out!  It will be here before you know it!

Finally, I will try and keep this blog updated regularly so you can keep track on my work – I’d love your comments, criticism, and IDEAS!  Feel free to share and keep a look-out for my lovely sister’s senior photos in the next post!
