Creative Inspirations

Hello, lovely people.  Here is a little creative inspiration for the day…

I was walking around my home today and couldn’t help but admire a few things.  The cool thing about recently getting married and moving into our own place is we’ve had to find our own furniture, decorations, kitchen stuff, etc.  As long as this process may take, our home has been allowed to be filled with a lot of cool stuff!  This little post includes just a few things that make me happy to have  &  see around my home.  May it also inspire you to fill your surroundings with beautiful things.

First off, our wedding book

I absolutely LOVE it!!!  It’s a modern album (which you can order through Cali Ashton Photography 😉 ) and has sleek pages (see below)…

I also ordered some lovely float wraps last month that promptly hang on our wall above our kitchen table.  I had been gazing at that blank wall for a couple of month going crazy!  Thankfully it now serves a better purpose other than a blank canvas 😉

We’ve also been on the lookout for a ladder bookcase to fit in our space beside the couch to fill with our items from all our travels (it’s slanted, but you can only tell from the side view – go photographer, for shooting the wrong angle).  Anyway, we didn’t want to spend $800 on one, so it took some time to find, but we finally did it!  And where did we discover it, you may ask?!!  None other than dear ‘ol Target.  We are so pleased.

A close up from the bottom two shelves… our books & Nyk’s journals.  Granted, I kept diaries & journals growing up, but never ones looking this good!  His usually contain some type of leather and wrap around binding that give it that extra touch.  The ones from Budapest that he likes are called Bomo Art.  Love it.  Again, one of those things that just makes me happy.

Oh, and we like games.  Wahoo is a game that was made and shared with us by Canadians.  We liked it so much, my mom had one custom made for Nyk & I – how fun!  If any of you come over you’ll have to let us teach you, ay!

Just a couple more things before I head out.  OUR POT RACK!!!  Nyk had a fabulous idea for our kitchen that would save us a ton of space and look spectacular!  We got that one at Kohl’s and their are plenty of size options.  It goes perfectly if you have an island in your kitchen (they also make wall ones if you don’t).  Oh, and props to Calphalon products for looking awesome on pot racks!

These last two things have brought me smiles every time I use them or even just walk by.  I’ve always been a fan of having something out of the ordinary with just a little creative touch.  It’s worth it to look around longer or spend a tad more to have creative ‘everyday’ things around the house.  The coolest thing about these two things… both were given to us as gifts!  Even more special!  The lovely Wheeler family gave us the colander and Miss Rachel Williamson (soon to be Moore) gave me the beautiful mug.  THANKS, GUYS!

Oh and… I’m happy to walk around my house and see this guy 😉

Hopefully this post has inspired you.  I’d love for you to share any creative ideas you’ve implemented in your life!
